Putting it all Together

My scrapbook and inserts came in the mail, I printed pictures, and now I'm putting it all together!  It is thankfully just as fun as I was anticipating.  I've skipped the gym a few times this week to do this instead!  Well, most things are more fun than the gym, so that might not properly convey my feelings.

Today I meant to only work on it for an hour or so, but then suddenly three hours were gone.  It felt great to get lost in something fun.  Time flies like that at work too sometimes, but that generally comes with a stressful, will-I-be-done-in-time feeling.  The only bad part about doing so much so fast is that I'll run out of pages very soon.  Thankfully, I plan on taking a ton of pictures during Brian's visit (next week!) so hopefully I'll be able to make those pages last for longer.

Speaking of pictures ... tomorrow I'm second shooting that wedding I've talked about!  I'm both excited and nervous, and I hope I capture all the moments the way the photographer is envisioning.  Weird thinking that some random couple could have my pictures on their mantle -- or even a scrapbook.

Scrapbook Preparations

Well, I just bounce from one craft to the next don't I? I think it's fun to have a few different stashes of supplies and things to do though, the variety and new excitement is definitely good for me out here.

My latest obsession: scrapbooking.  I always loved the scrapbooks my mom made me and my sister growing up, and my favorite DIY blog has shown different scrapbooking ideas for years.  So when that blog started producing their own scrapbooks and supplies, I decided to go for it and figure out a theme.  Once I decided it would be fun to document the trips Brian and I have taken (and will take) to visit each other, my mind started whirling with ideas!

The album, pages, and the photo prints I ordered online are all set to arrive next week, but I've already started some prep work.  And ever since I decided to start my scrapbook, I've been slowly accumulating supplies to go with my ideas at Michael's, JoAnn's, and Ben Franklin Crafts.  If you do it right, you never have to pay full price at Michael's and JoAnn's, and it's amazing to have locations so close to me.  Although often my "quick trips" turn quite long as I wander the isles looking for deals and inspiration.

Above are these new (to me) kinds of stamps -- each letter is made out of this rubber that clings on to that plastic block.  They seem to be cheaper than the wooden backed stamp, and since it's all clear you can see the spacing and placement better! I paired those stamps with a stitched outline of Spencer Butte to put with pictures from the hike Brian and I did back in September.

I can't wait to put the rest of it together and get more ideas once I start laying everything out! Planner that I am, I already blocked out which pictures I'm putting in each section of the page protectors.  I don't have the best history of following up in a timely fashion on here, but hopefully when the pages I have planned are done, I'll share them on here.

Skinner's Butte Photoshoot

Two weeks after I promised I'm finally sharing my photos from a photoshoot I did on Skinner's Butte!  It was my first time up on the butte (it's an easy driver but I've never found the way up) and it has an absolutely beautiful view of downtown Eugene and Spencer Butte in the background.

I did it with a local photographer, Blush Pink Photography , and she gave me a bunch of tips.  It was really fun, I haven't shot things besides objects/my cat in a long time.  We went around 8 a.m. (before daylight saving) and the lighting was beautiful.

(these aren't top quality uploads but I can't figure out how to fix that)

I also had a good time editing these this morning.  Just like I haven't taken pictures of people recently, I'm not used to editing them.  It all sparked my creativity and made me want to get out and take more pictures! If only Neville didn't move so fast and I could catch some cute ones of him playing with his new toys ;)

Welllll what have I been up to lately? It feels like February just flew by.  I guess that what tends to happen with the shortest month!

I've been up to my usual tricks: doing some kind of craft, eating, playing with Neville, watching Netflix. My latest projects have been metal stamped jewelry.  It's fun to be able to personalize it to whatever I want.  Above is the "alohomora" bar charm I made into a necklace, because who doesn't want Harry Potter themed jewelry? The letters are really tiny and sometimes hard to line up, so I have definitely messed up a few times but it's still fun.  This weekend, I realized I could stamp onto some of my flat keys from my key collection, so that's going to be fun to try out.

I got my first manicure this month! I went with my friends Carrie and Sarah as a belated birthday event. Definitely nice getting my hands massaged, but sadly the polish didn't last that much longer than when I do it myself.

Caprese sandwich.  It was amazing.  I went on a weekday trek to downtown Eugene to get the baguette, because I obviously had to have this on the best bread possible.

I was watching the movie Prefontaine about famed UO runner Steve Prefontaine, and would you look at which local station they chose to use for a sports anchor bit? I thought that was pretty cool.

Over the weekend I did a photoshoot to practice some skills before I second shoot a wedding later this month.  I just went through them to pick my favorites, and I can't wait to edit them later this week!
